EDUCA Business Association has participated in the day-session “The context of circular economy in Valladolid” (originally named in Spanish “El contexto de la Economía Circular en Valladolid”). Oriana Romano (Coordinator of the Programme on Cities and Circular Economy, Urban Policies and Sustainable Development from the OCDE) has presented the initiative “Economy and governance of a circular economy in cities” (“La economía y la gobernanza de la economía circular en las ciudades”). Since the city of Valladolid participates in this project as one of the study cases, our city will receive some expert counseling from the OCDE and other cutting-edge cities on this matter.

This event was opened by the Mayor of Valladolid, Oscar Puente, and featured the participation of different associations, institutions and companies, who addressed the relationship between the circular economy and the public administrations and discussed the circular economy as a shared commitment. One of the speakers, Rosa Huertas González, Director of Finance and Economic Promotion of Valladolid City Council, examined some projects that are being developed within the initiative #ValladolidCircular.

Rosa Huertas highlighted the initiative “Circular economy: a reality in Valladolid” (“Economía Circular: una realidad en Valladolid”), accomplished by EDUCA Business Association together with the Agency for Innovation and Economic Development of Valladolid City Council in 2018. This initiative audited 70 local companies to know their opportunities to incorporate circular economy processes.

Our partners Javier Domínguez and Iván Diez (treasurer of EDUCA Business Association) also participated in this session.
